Winter Pet Care Guide For Your Furry Friends

As the temperatures drop, it’s important to take extra care of your pet. Here are some tips on how to keep them warm and safe during winter months: Make sure they have access to clean water at all times. Snow is not a substitute for fresh water. If you go out in the cold with your dog, make sure their feet don’t get too cold or wet by using booties or wiping their paws when you come back inside. Never leave your pet alone in a car during cold weather – they can get hypothermia quickly! Keep them well-groomed so they don’t have extra fur that could collect ice and snow. Bring them inside when the temperature drops below freezing – even if

Understand your breed: While many short-haired animals benefit immensely from jackets or warm clothes, several breeds don't require such support. Given the abundance of Huskies, Golden Retrievers, St. Bernards, Chow Chows, and other long-haired pets in India, coats in the winter are not necessary and may even irritate the skin.

Keep them covered: Pets raised in homes occasionally, when not exposed to outdoor circumstances, do not develop a tolerance for them like stray and wild animals do. Make sure your pet is wearing something warm, especially if it has a thin coat. If you put a sweater or muffler on a dog or other animal, keep an eye on it since occasionally dogs or smaller animals don't like them and chew them up. It might be harmful for the animal to eat wool. When going outside, a dog sweater is frequently beneficial, especially for puppies that have less body mass for heat generating.

Pets generally eat more in the winter and get more activity. Along with this rise in hunger, exercise should also be increased. Given that our pets may be eating significantly more, there is a strong likelihood that they may gain weight, which could result in obesity. Animal obesity must be avoided since it can result in numerous problems like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and bladder stones. The benefit is that your pet can enjoy longer outdoor playtime and longer walks without fear of suffering from a heat stroke from the summer sun.
