Red-bellied parrot

Although its name may be confusing to some because it doesn't actually have a red color on its belly, the red-bellied parrot is a small to medium-sized bird in the parrot family that is full of energy and affection. Red-bellied parrots are found in the wild in many East African countries including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya and Somalia where there are woodlands, dry brush and scrubland areas. They are not an endangered species so they can be found as pets in zoos as well as in private homes. Red-bellied parrots got their name long before the orange fruit was discovered in English-speaking countries. Their name would, of course, be more appropriately the orange-bellied parrot, but the word for both fruits, and hence the color orange, was not used until this parrot was already named. Was
